Senior Product and Process Manager

Gas Networks Ireland operates and maintains Ireland’s €3bn, 14,725km national gas network, which is considered one of the safest and most modern renewables-ready gas networks in the world.

Almost 725,000 Irish homes and businesses trust Ireland’s gas network to provide efficient and reliable energy to meet their heating, cooking, manufacturing and transport needs.

The gas network is the cornerstone of Ireland’s energy system, securely supplying more than 30% of Ireland’s total energy and over 40% of the country’s electricity generation.

Gas Networks Ireland is aiming to deliver a repurposed, resized and fully decarbonised gas network by 2045. Its “Pathway to a Net Zero Carbon Network” envisions transforming the existing gas network into two separate systems carrying 100% renewable gas, one dedicated to biomethane and the other to green hydrogen, with the potential to carry approximately 30% biomethane and 70% green hydrogen, as well as offering significant long term energy export opportunities.

Aurora Telecom, a division of Gas Networks Ireland, provides a futureproofed backhaul network for progressive projects of national economic and social importance. A carrier-neutral operator, Aurora specialises in Dark Fibre and colocation services for telecommunications carriers, corporate organisations and government services. The national and metro networks which we have developed will enable Irish rural economies to diversify into new sectors and capitalise on emerging job opportunities that are facilitated through high speed broadband.

The Role:

 
   

As Product and Process Manager you will provide the expertise in defining processes and products to build on our leading edge telecommunications products that future proof our competitiveness. Generate new ideas and formulate differentiated market propositions tailored to different customer segments and channels. As a manager within Aurora, you will support overarching business strategy and goals, identify opportunities, and maintain relationships with key stakeholders. You will support the Head of Technical regards sales and driving growth through new and existing services.

Duties and Responsibilities:

 
   
  • Responsible for high level design and solutioning for new products working with internal project managers; engineers and co-ordinate with customers.
  • Oversee the selection of technology, planning of network architecture, colocation services, client consultations, multi-layered network solutions, and major capital projects.
  • Create strategies for product launches and improve methods to boost efficiency.
  • Provide high-quality project and programme management standards across the whole project lifecycle.
  • Align resource and organisation plans with the technology strategy. Work with the GNI HR team to create training and development plans for Aurora’s growing services.
  • Develop partnerships with internal and external teams to secure resources, develop scope, set project priorities and milestones, and drive delivery
  • Manage significant operational expenses, ensuring that budgets and targets were achieved.
  • Communicate with customers and stakeholders regarding commercial and opportunity assessments, and assist the Head of Technical during client and supplier negotiations.
  • Formulate a long-term strategic and commercial perspective on trends and developments in the telecommunications industry.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with Local Authorities, key customers, Government departments, partners, regulators, clients and stakeholders.
  • Represent the company at conferences and trade shows; demonstrate Aurora's technologies and professionally create new leads and sales opportunities.
  • Perform other such duties that may be required from time to time.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

 
   
  • Proven Business process competence is essential – Business or engineering degree essential.
  • Minimum of 10 years of management experience in both dark fibre and managed bandwidth carrier organisations.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with fibre network systems within a fast-paced customer centric environment.
  • Experience of telecommunications hosting and colocation facilities.
  • In depth knowledge of competitor offering from all major telecom operators in Ireland and internationally.
  • Proven ability to have successfully implemented processes and product documentation in a telecommunications programme within a complex and large organisational context; have demonstrated an ability to align resources across these environments.
  • Have developed existing relationships with carriers that can be used to assist in progressing the Aurora strategic plan
  • Proven track record of delivering and documenting complex solutions across multiple access networks
  • Strong business acumen and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse key business issues quickly, make recommendations, influence key stakeholders and implement solutions to advance business and strategic goals.
  • Excellent leadership and people skills required, and a demonstrable ability to attract and develop a high performing committed team.
  • Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, demonstrating knowledge in using key Excel functions, as well as Word and Powerpoint.
  • Proven ability to create and develop good working relationships to facilitate the accomplishment of work goals, coupled with the ability to gain commitment from others.
  • Have excellent analytical skills and be able to identify and analyse problems and potential improvements, and propose and implement solutions
