Aurora Telecom and ESB Telecoms announce New Partnership

Aurora Telecom, a division of Gas Networks Ireland, is excited to announce a new agreement with ESB Telecoms. This collaboration will allow both organisations to access and integrate each other's fibre networks, providing customers with enhanced reach, resilience and enable both organisations to deliver even more value to end users.

Committed to Customers

Traditionally, telecommunication carriers would build networks and not allow others to use it. However, this agreement will allow both organisations to leverage their combined extensive networks. This, in turn, will benefit customers and communities by removing the need for new infrastructure development and enable the telecommunications industry to expand its services to a broader range of end users.

A focus on Sustainability

Aurora Telecom as part of Gas Networks Ireland is committed to providing sustainable services to meet the increasing demand for data and connectivity from its customers.

Aurora Telecom’s and ESB Telecoms’ shared focus on sustainability ensures that this agreement will deliver high quality, eco-conscious connectivity solutions to customers nationwide. By integrating resources and minimising infrastructure development, the partnership sets a benchmark for environmentally responsible business practices in the telecoms industry.

This collaboration represents a significant milestone in advancing Ireland’s digital infrastructure and highlights the critical role played by semi state organisations in driving innovation, connectivity and sustainability.

James Freeman, Fibre Engineering Design Manager at Aurora Telecom, said,

We are excited about this new agreement, as Aurora Telecom and ESB Telecoms will now be able to facilitate new route options for customers over our combined extensive networks, which are provided over a secure and resilient fibre backbone.

This agreement aligns with the sustainability strategy of our parent organisation, Gas Networks Ireland. We know that delivering sustainable services is extremely important to our customers as the need for data and connectivity continues to grow. This partnership will help both organisations reduce the requirement for new civil works that could have a negative impact on the environment and local communities.”

Sylvester Cullen, Sales and Marketing Manager with ESB Telecoms, added:

"This new commercial agreement allows us to leverage our combined infrastructure, giving customers access to two of the largest fibre networks in Ireland. It will reduce the need for new infrastructure, making service delivery more efficient and affordable. This partnership aligns with ESB's vision and commitment to Net Zero by 2040. By collaborating with Aurora Telecom, we achieve greater efficiency and sustainability, proving we are better together."
